After my recent experience with Kahala Shell trying to sell me "not-needed repairs" while I was there for my safety inspection, I was up in arms!
Taking advantage of people is what came to mind, especially since I have heard a similar story from a friend (female) who doesn't know much about cars.
How rude and unethical that a business would take advantage of the public - - the community should know that they are indeed trying to sell people repairs that are not needed!
Instead, friends told me about Palolo Auto Service on Waialae in Kaimuki. They were incredible and did everything correctly and it was a job well done! Kudos to Palolo Auto Service & their owners!! I will definitely recommend people to them!! Now how's that for a testiment of good auto service?!!
This is the detailed kind of information that is really helpful! Thank you for the warning and also for the recommendation. It is "fair" to the Kahala station to receive a bad review, because if they provide outstanding service for another WOMFer, that person can do a shout out recommending them. My mom, aged 88, is just the kind of target some stations are looking for! I will warn her about Kahala Shell.
I was not able to up your rating because I already used my star rating today but you really deserve 5 Stars!

very interesting post, yes, with the safety check being so "cheap" those safety check stations have to look for "other" ways to make up for their time... i once remember a friend who used to work for a shop telling me that they(inspectors) were expected to find at least one discrepancy before issuing the safety check... makes sense... gee, changing one bulb may set you back five bucks...and for the average person who is on a tight schedule, what's five bucks to get it over with and be on your merry way, right?? Easy money... i'll remember Palolo Auto Service... In fact, we should ALL remember them... thanks...

Kinko's located at Queen street. The only difference is that the workers don't smile, limited staff for assistance and spends to much time on the phone. Can't get good help these days.
